A chartered plane carrying a politician from Congo and 17 more officials ended up skidding off the runway into flames during an official visit.
The plane was said to be carrying the Democratic Republic of Congo’s Mines minister, Louis Kabamba, and a delegation of officials to the site of a bridge collapse incident at the Kalando mine, as per local media outlets.

The collapse ended up killing at least 32 people when it fell due to overcrowding. The incident involving the jet took place at the Kolwezi Airport in the south of the nation, the plane’s operator, Airjet Angola, shared in a statement on Facebook.
‘Airjet informs about the tragic incident and takes a deep sense of responsibility for the matter involving one of our aircrafts’- the public statement from the airline read.

Thankfully, no casualties were reported, and that was confirmed by the airline itself. All crew and passengers were declared safe, but the aircraft was completely destroyed in the aftermath of the incident.
Shocking footage showed the passengers running from the aircraft as fast as possible and feeling grateful to be alive and surviving the incident.
