California Gov. Gavin Newsom has jumped into the meme war, using AI-generated images to mock Donald Trump after the president went viral for calling reporter Catherine Lucey “piggy.”
The moment happened November 14 aboard Air Force One, when Lucey began asking about newly released Epstein-related emails. Trump cut her off with, “Quiet. Quiet, piggy,” a clip that quickly spread online.
Newsom seized on the moment. His press office posted a series of AI-assisted memes on X, depicting Trump as a pig in various exaggerated scenarios — from unveiling a gold-plated Oval Office redesign to appearing on fake magazine covers. They also posted a real photo of Trump with Jeffrey Epstein, captioned simply: “piggies.”
By Wednesday, the White House defended Trump’s remark, saying the reporter acted “in an inappropriate and unprofessional way.”
That same night, Trump announced he had signed legislation authorizing the release of Epstein files, boasting on Truth Social that the DOJ had already provided Congress with nearly 50,000 pages and criticizing the Biden administration for previously releasing none.
