President Trump just shared a massive plan to issue checks worth $2000 to most Americans from the revenue produced through his import tariffs, called the tariff dividend.
He specifically mentioned how the amount applies to those of moderate income, middle class income, and will not feature those who earn in the high income range. Furthermore, he added that payments would begin starting in the middle of next year, so those having hopes of something being delivered before the year’s end might need to rethink again.

However, the plan has faced quite a few challenges ever since it was rolled out. The Treasury Department mentioned a legislation is needed before any dividend payment can be made.
Bessent also shared how this dividend may not arrive in the form of classic checks, but it could be delivered through tax cuts or other types of rebates, like decreasing taxes on tips, social security, or overtime payments.

Many Americans are expressing skepticism over the plan from the start and question if they would ever be given anything in the end, considering the fact that there is a certain eligibility criterion to be met, not to mention dates going as far as the middle of 2026. What do you think?
