Having an involved father can shape a child’s entire future — and actor Dean Cain chose to be exactly that, even if it meant giving up a booming Hollywood career.
Dean Cain, known for Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, didn’t grow up with his biological father. His dad left when he was young, and Cain was later adopted by director Christopher Cain, whom he honored by naming his own son after him.
Cain became a father in 2000 to his son Christopher. After a tough custody battle, he won full custody in 2011 — and completely dedicated his life to raising him. He cooked every meal, attended every school event, and refused major acting roles just to stay present.
Balancing work and fatherhood wasn’t easy, but Cain always put his son first. He didn’t return to leading roles until Christopher graduated high school at 18.
Today, the two share a very close bond. Cain often posts photos of their travels and daily life together. Christopher also spends time with his younger half-siblings, whom Cain treats like his own.
Looking back, Cain says his greatest joy isn’t fame — it’s being a hands-on dad. “My best day is simply waking up and spending time with my son.”
