The deaths of NASCAR driver Greg Biffle, his wife Cristina, and their children in a tragic plane crash have left many heartbroken. The family had mailed holiday greeting cards shortly before the accident, and they began arriving this week, deepening the sense of loss.
The crash occurred last Thursday as the family flew from Statesville Regional Airport in North Carolina to Sarasota, Florida. The plane turned back and crashed while attempting to land around 10:15 a.m., bursting into flames. Greg, Cristina, and two of their children were killed, while their 14-year-old daughter Emma survived.
A family friend, North Carolina restaurant owner Ron Herbert, shared the holiday card online in tribute. The photo showed the family smiling together in matching white T-shirts and jeans in front of a Christmas tree.
Statesville Regional Airport confirmed the crash, and the FAA and NTSB are investigating the cause.
