At least two people were pronounced dead, and several others were injured after a multi-vehicle pileup on the highway.
The incident took place on Friday at 7:30 pm local time when a giant truck crashed into a mid-sized truck that was stopped on the Kan Etsu Expressway in Japan.

The incident that arose near the Minakami Interchange triggered a chain reaction with more than 50 more vehicles, which then collided, according to local media outlets.
At least 10 vehicles burst into flames due to the crashes that arose, the Japanese officials confirmed.

It took nearly seven hours for the fires to be extinguished as per local media outlets. Two people were confirmed dead, and 26 hours were injured as a result of this pileup. One of the victims was identified as Miyuki Wakita. The 77-year-old had been in the back seat of a car driven by a member of her family when the tragedy ensued.
