Dolly Parton was very lonely at the age of 18 and that’s when she moved to Nashville as an aspring singer and songwriter.
She missed her parents and 11 siblings and was also not doing well financially. She would cruise hotel hallways at night and search for half eaten room service trays waiting to get picked up.
But there was one bright spot during her early days in the country music capital. She had met a local boy at the laundromat. Good looks struck her and she liked how he seemed more interested in who she was as compared to just her looks.
The relationship grew fast and she became smitten. But when Dean shared that he planned to marry her, she was caught off guard. She had seen the price that women paid for getting married and she did not wish to engage in that.
She waited and then in 1966, she got married. She allowed herself to help her family and siblings and only went ahead when she knew she was ready
