Dennis Hamlin, who is the father of NASCAR driver Denny Hamlin, was recently killed in a fire at his residence in North Carolina.
Officials confirmed the tragic news on Monday and that he had sustained life-threatening injuries due to the major fire.
Denny’s mom was also critically injured in the blaze, as confirmed by the press. Authorities shared more about how Dennis and Mary Lou were able to escape the residence in time. Dennis was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his wounds. Mary Lou is currently receiving her treatment.
The nature of the injuries was yet to be disclosed. And the cause of the blaze is yet to be determined.
The flames were said to have broken out shortly after 6:19 pm local time at the residence, which Chief David Toomey of the fire department confirmed belonged to Hamlin’s parents.
