A US border patrol agent has shot and wounded two people in Portland, Oregon.
Authorities shared how the incident took place on Thursday in the leading city as state officials called for calm, given the amount of public outrage regarding the ICE shooting death of a Minnesota woman a day before.

“We do understand that the heightened emotion and tension most people are feeling in the wake of this tragedy in Minneapolis, but I am requesting the community to remain calm as we work to learn more details,” the post read.
The shooting in Portland unfolded during the afternoon hours of Thursday, as US Border Patrol Agents were seen carrying out a targeted vehicle stop, as shared by the Department of Homeland Security.

The statement mentioned how the driver was a suspected gang member from Venezuela who tried to weaponize his car and run over a few agents. In reply to that, DHS mentioned how the agent fired a defensive shot, and the driver and passenger were seen driving away. The incident reportedly took place near a medical clinic in the eastern part of the city.
