The fatal shooting of 37-year-old mother Renee Good by an ICE officer in Minneapolis has sparked intense national debate. Good was shot by ICE agent Jonathan Ross after allegedly obstructing agents with her car and attempting to flee. Video footage shows Ross standing in front of the vehicle before firing three shots, killing Good, then uttering a profane remark as the car crashed.
The Department of Homeland Security, along with President Donald Trump and senior officials, labeled Good a “domestic terrorist,” arguing the shooting was self-defense because she was allegedly trying to run over agents. Others, including Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, have called the incident a murder and demanded charges against Ross.
The case has divided even Good’s family. Her former father-in-law, Timmy Macklin, said he does not blame ICE, describing the situation as chaotic and expressing support for Trump, while criticizing Good’s actions. However, he condemned Ross’s vulgar remark after the shooting.
Trump later commented that while Good may have been a good person under normal circumstances, her actions that day were “pretty tough,” underscoring how deeply polarized reactions to the incident remain.
