Actress Melissa Gilbert is standing by her husband, Timothy Busfield, after he turned himself in to New Mexico authorities on child sex abuse charges. Busfield, an Emmy-winning actor and director, is accused of unlawful sexual contact with 11-year-old twin boys while directing the 2024 series The Cleaning Lady.
Following the arrest warrant, Gilbert reportedly deleted her social media accounts and shifted her focus to supporting Busfield and caring for their family. Busfield surrendered four days after the warrant was issued and now faces two counts of criminal sexual contact of a minor and one count of child abuse. Prosecutors are seeking pretrial detention.
Busfield has publicly denied all allegations, calling them “lies” and vowing to fight the charges. Married since 2013, Gilbert’s representative confirmed she continues to support her husband while requesting privacy as the case proceeds.
