Louise Latham: From Golden Hollywood to Hitchcock’s Marnie

Posted on January 16, 2026 By admin

Louise Latham, one of the elegant figures of classic Hollywood, remains unforgettable for her quiet talent and strong screen presence. She passed away on February 12, 2018, at the age of 95.

Born on September 23, 1922, in Hamilton, Texas, Latham became especially well known for her role as Bernice Edgar in Alfred Hitchcock’s Marnie (1964), where she stood out with a restrained yet powerful psychological performance.

Throughout her career, she appeared in numerous films and television series from the 1950s to the 1970s, particularly in westerns and dramas, where she impressed audiences with dignity and emotional depth.

Unlike many stars of her era, Louise Latham chose to balance her career with her personal life, gradually stepping away from the spotlight while maintaining the industry’s respect.

Her legacy lives on through her films — a reminder of an era when true acting spoke louder than fame.

Rest in peace, Louise Latham.
