Anne Hathaway says she doesn’t put much stock in traditional age “milestones,” and turning 40 didn’t strike her as especially significant. In a New York Times interview, the 41-year-old explained that she doesn’t think much about “middle age” because life is unpredictable. Instead, she values other personal achievements, like being over five years sober, which she calls a true milestone.
Hathaway described 40 as a “gift” and said that dealing with past stress taught her to live more mindfully and not take life for granted.
She also spoke about how sobriety and prioritizing her mental and physical well-being have made her feel healthier and more present than when she was younger.
