Three sisters in Ghaziabad, India, died after jumping from the ninth floor of their apartment building early Wednesday morning. Authorities confirmed the girls—ages 16, 14, and 12—had recently been denied access to their phones after reportedly becoming addicted to an online game.
Police said the sisters left behind an eight-page handwritten note apologizing to their father and asking him to read the diary. The message reportedly included the words, “Sorry papa, I am really sorry.”
Their father, Chetan Kumar, told investigators the girls had been obsessed with a Korean online game for several years and had stopped attending school two years ago. He admitted he was unaware of how deeply involved they had become.
Officials have not officially linked the deaths to the game, but say the phone restriction may have affected them. The grieving father said he never imagined something like this could happen to his family.
