Ryan becomes suspicious when his dog Bella barks at his father’s coffin in the church. When Bella alerts him, he opens the casket to find his father’s body missing.
Earlier, Ryan had been struggling to say goodbye, but Bella’s unusual behavior pulls him back to the casket. Inside, it’s empty. Ryan’s uncle questions the funeral director, and panic sets in. Ryan rushes his fainting mother to the hospital and calls the police. Detective Bradshaw says they know nothing about his father’s disappearance and asks about Arnold’s past activities.
Ryan digs deeper, discovering Arnold’s life insurance policy naming Miss Pearson as the beneficiary. He tracks her down, learns she’s disappeared, and later finds she was about to leave the country. At an auction, the figurine Arnold had cherished is up for sale. When the bidding hits $1 million, Ryan recognizes his father, who reveals his fake death and affair with Miss Pearson.
Ryan confronts his father for abandoning his family, calling out his selfishness and betrayal, leading to Arnold’s arrest.
