Charli Worgan and her husband Cullen, a Sydney couple who each have different forms of dwarfism, are often questioned about their decision to have children. When Charli became pregnant with their first child, they faced intense public scrutiny.
After their first daughter was born, Charli started sharing their family life on social media to educate people. Her account quickly grew, and today she has over 300,000 followers.
The couple now have three children, but each pregnancy came with difficult decisions. Because of their genetic conditions, their babies could be of average height, inherit one parent’s form of dwarfism, or inherit both forms—a rare combination that doctors say would be fatal.
During her pregnancies, Charli had to undergo genetic testing such as Chorionic Villus Sampling (CVS), a risky procedure used to determine the baby’s genetic makeup. She shared how stressful it was to wait and learn whether their baby would survive.
Despite criticism from some people about having children with these odds, Charli says the decisions were never taken lightly and hopes sharing their story encourages understanding and kindness.
Their third child, a baby boy named Rip, was born healthy. Charli later shared that although motherhood is exhausting, she feels incredibly grateful and believes there is no single “right” way to be a parent.
