A routine traffic stop in North Myrtle Beach led to a major arrest. Officer Kayla Wallace pulled over a white Jeep for running a red light. The female driver mouthed “help me” to Wallace, revealing that her passenger had forced her to drive a getaway car after a shooting.
The passenger, 29-year-old Collins Bates, was quickly arrested and charged with attempted murder, kidnapping, and weapons offenses. A pistol was later found under his seat. What began as a minor traffic violation helped police stop a dangerous criminal.
