Macy’s is closing 14 more stores across 12 states as part of its ongoing “Bold New Chapter” plan to streamline operations and focus on growth. The move follows the 2025 closure of 66 locations and is part of a strategy to modernize stores, enhance digital capabilities, and reinvest in profitable locations.
CEO Tony Spring said the closures were difficult but necessary, with support provided to affected employees. Macy’s also plans to open 15 new Bloomingdale’s stores, expand Bluemercury, and remodel existing locations, aiming to boost customer experience and sustainable growth.
