Rachel Tussey, a 47-year-old Ohio mother and TikTok creator, died on March 17 after complications from a “mommy makeover” surgery, her family’s lawyer confirmed. She had been taken off life support nearly two weeks earlier after suffering severe brain damage due to lack of oxygen.
Tussey, known on TikTok as “midlifeunmuted,” had over 70,000 followers where she shared uplifting content for women over 40. She posted a final video on the day of her surgery, expressing hope and asking for prayers.
The procedure, a tummy tuck performed at JourneyLite Surgery Center by Dr. Shahryar Tork, was said to be successful. However, her condition worsened during recovery after receiving pain medications, and she became unresponsive. She was rushed to the hospital but never recovered.
Her husband claims possible medical negligence, while her attorney confirmed she suffered a permanent brain injury. An investigation is ongoing.
Tussey is remembered as a loving mother of three, devoted wife, and active community member.
