‘Police Woman’ and ‘Shaft’ actor Ed Bernard dies at 86!

Ed Bernard, the character actor known for roles in Police Woman and The White Shadow, has died at 86. He passed away on January 23 in Northridge, California, his family confirmed.

Born in 1939 in Philadelphia, Bernard began on stage before moving to film and TV in the 1970s. He gained recognition as Det. Joe Styles on Police Woman (1974–1978) and later as Principal Jim Willis on The White Shadow.

He went on to appear in many popular series, including ER, NYPD Blue, and JAG, with his final on-screen role in 2005.

Off-screen, he was remembered as a devoted father, grandfather, and lifelong learner. He is survived by his two sons and four grandchildren.
