Work is part of life, and most people will have a job to pay bills and provide for themselves or their family. Ideally, a job would be enjoyable, but often it’s just a means to an end—especially for students whose first job may be far from their dream.
A transgender Starbucks employee recently shared a video from the stockroom, venting about their manager, schedule, customers, lack of a union, and being misgendered. They called their 25-hour weekly schedule, with full-day weekend shifts, “long hours,” which felt overwhelming while also being a full-time student.
Some commenters criticized the complaints as spoiled, comparing it to harder experiences like military service. Others defended the employee, noting that balancing school and work is stressful and that venting frustration is valid.
Do you think this Starbucks employee had a right to complain, or was it overreacting?
