Tiffany Haddish grew up believing she was “stupid” after years of abuse and neglect. Raised in South Central Los Angeles, her father left early, and her mother—later diagnosed with schizophrenia—became abusive after a traumatic brain injury. Haddish struggled to read, was placed in foster care, and endured violence, homelessness, and sexual assault.
A teacher finally helped her learn to read, and a social worker introduced her to comedy—changing her life. Laughter became her escape and strength. She pushed through stand-up, acting, and hardship, eventually breaking out with Girls Trip and rising to global fame.
She went on to make history hosting Saturday Night Live and winning a Grammy, becoming one of the most influential figures in entertainment.
Despite everything, Haddish turned pain into power—proving that even the darkest beginnings can lead to extraordinary success.
