Jeff Webb, the founder of Varsity Spirit and a key figure in modern cheerleading, has died at 76 after a fall while playing pickleball that caused a traumatic head injury. He was hospitalized and later taken off life support.
Webb launched Varsity Spirit in 1974, building it into a global powerhouse that transformed cheerleading through competitions, training, and media. He also helped grow the sport internationally, including work with the International Cheer Union.
Beyond cheerleading, Webb was active in conservative politics, worked with Turning Point USA, and later served as a media executive at Human Events.
