Miranda, a hardworking young Mexican woman, faces humiliation when her ex, Colin, and his new girlfriend, Leslie, mock her at her job. Though scared to act due to the risk of losing her job, Miranda is driven by the pain Colin caused her. She decides to get even.
Miranda’s breakup with Colin had been public, and as an immigrant trying to build a life, she knew she had to keep working. One day, she’s late to her job and explains the situation to her boss, Michael, who gives her a final warning. Later, she’s forced to serve Colin and Leslie at the restaurant. They insult her, and Colin even drops his fork deliberately for her to pick up. As Miranda cleans a mess he made, Leslie laughs, and the attention from other customers breaks her down.
In the kitchen, Chef Robert comforts her, and she opens up about her past with Colin, who tricked her into going to a party that led to her being publicly humiliated. As she recalls how Colin and Leslie laughed at her, Miranda plans her revenge. She asks Robert to make their food extra spicy, and he reluctantly agrees.
When Colin tries the spicy stew, he has a strong reaction, and Leslie, embarrassed, quickly leaves. Colin tries to blame Miranda, but Michael backs her up, saying the food was fine and defending her professionalism. Miranda feels a sense of satisfaction, having stood up for herself, while Michael teaches Colin a lesson in humility.
