Posted on April 4, 2026 By admin

Former Wisconsin Badgers tight end Jack Pugh has died at 24, the university announced Tuesday. Pugh, from Ohio, played for Wisconsin from 2021 to 2022 but stepped away from football in December 2023 to focus on his mental health.

A multi-sport athlete in high school, Pugh had not played football his first two years, instead focusing on basketball. He did not record a catch during his college career. In a past Instagram post, he cited prolonged depression and substance abuse as reasons for retiring, emphasizing the importance of prioritizing his mental health.

Born August 22, 2001, in Columbus, Ohio, Pugh grew up in Hilliard and Plain City. Known for his kindness, humility, and positive energy, he also worked as a plumber and loved animals. He is survived by his parents, brother, and extended family. Donations are requested to the Columbus Humane Society in his memory.
