Former NFL defensive back Chris Payton-Jones has died at 30 following a head-on car crash in Alachua County, Florida. He was the only fatality, while passengers in the other vehicle survived with minor injuries.
Payton-Jones, a former Nebraska standout, went undrafted in 2018 but built a career across the NFL, playing for teams like the Lions, Cardinals, Titans, Vikings, and Raiders, as well as later competing in the XFL and UFL with the St. Louis Battlehawks.
Known for his perseverance and positive attitude, he was widely praised by coaches and teammates as a hardworking and uplifting presence. In recent years, he also focused on media and community work through his sports content platform, earning strong respect off the field as well.
