Sandra Lee, known as Dr. Pimple Popper, has revealed she suffered a stroke while filming season two of her Lifetime series Dr. Pimple Popper: Breaking Out.
The incident happened while she was treating patients in her California clinic when she suddenly felt unwell, initially thinking it was a hot flash. Later that day, she experienced weakness, pain, and difficulty walking, and by the next morning the left side of her body was affected.
An MRI confirmed she had an ischemic stroke, caused by a blockage of blood flow to the brain. Lee said it came as a shock, noting she experienced slurred speech and loss of control on one side of her body.
She immediately paused filming and spent two months recovering, working to regain strength and mobility. Although she still has mild speech and hand issues, she says she is mostly back to normal.
Looking back, she admitted high stress, blood pressure, and cholesterol likely contributed, and now sees the experience as a warning to take her health more seriously.
