Andres Ramirez, 39, died from a heart attack during a flight home to the U.S. after a birthday trip with his wife, Suanny, in Bolivia. The plane made an emergency landing in Colombia, where he passed away, and his body remains there.
His brother, Teo Ramirez, started a GoFundMe with a $25,000 goal to cover costs of bringing him back to Oregon and arranging a funeral. The goal was reached, but the family continues to ask for prayers and support.
Andres leaves behind his wife, son AJ, parents, and siblings. The family says they are overwhelmed with grief and already dealing with other serious health issues, including their mother’s heart condition.
His sister, Tiffany Castro, said the family is devastated, describing the loss as something they can hardly accept while trying to stay strong together.
