Rebecca Gayheart has responded after a GoFundMe set up for her children following Eric Dane’s death sparked online attention. She shared family photos with Dane and their daughters, Billie and Georgia, and thanked supporters while acknowledging the fundraiser on Instagram Stories.
Eric Dane, known for Grey’s Anatomy and Euphoria, died on February 19 at age 53 after battling ALS. His family said he spent his final days surrounded by loved ones and had become an advocate for ALS awareness after his diagnosis.
He publicly revealed his illness in April 2025 and spoke openly about living with it, while maintaining a positive outlook despite its progression.
After his death, close friend Mike McGuiness helped launch the GoFundMe, saying it was meant to support Dane’s family financially after his illness impacted his ability to work. He also defended the fundraiser against criticism, stressing it was for his daughters’ future stability.
Gayheart’s message was seen as a way to thank supporters and clarify the purpose of the campaign during a difficult time, as tributes continue honoring Dane’s life, career, and advocacy.
