Valerie Perrine, best known for playing Eve Teschmacher in Superman (1978) alongside Christopher Reeve, has died from sudden cardiac arrest, according to her death certificate. The report also listed Parkinson’s disease (diagnosed in 2015) as the underlying condition, with dementia as a contributing factor.
Her friend Stacey Souther announced her passing on Facebook, saying Perrine died peacefully at home on March 23, 2026, after a long battle with Parkinson’s. He described her as a “luminous, vivacious” woman who faced her illness with courage and never complained.
A GoFundMe shared by Souther noted she had been fighting Parkinson’s and severe tremors for over 15 years, and that her final wish was to be buried at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Born in 1943 in Texas, Perrine began her career as a showgirl before rising to fame in Lenny (1974), which earned her an Oscar nomination. She later became widely known for her role in the Superman films and also appeared in movies like The Electric Horseman and Can’t Stop the Music, as well as various TV shows.
