My 600 Pound Life is a TLC reality series that follows individuals struggling with morbid obesity. Each episode chronicles their attempts at weight loss, with varying degrees of success.
In season 2 (2014), Christina Phillips, at 22 years old and over 700 pounds, was featured. Bedridden and dependent on others for daily tasks, she faced numerous health problems. Despite her struggles, she realized it was time for change.
At the start of the season, Phillips weighed 640 pounds but eventually reached 708 pounds. She couldn’t walk, was unable to maintain a job, and relied on her family for care. Her mother and husband were enabling her unhealthy habits, which Dr. Nowzaradan addressed during her treatment.
Phillips began therapy, acknowledging her emotional struggles behind overeating. Over time, with support from Dr. Now and her commitment, she started making progress. She now enjoys simple pleasures like walking with her nephew and shopping.
She stays on track by avoiding processed foods, logging her meals, and staying active. Today, Phillips has done things once unimaginable, like indoor skydiving, and she’s able to walk miles without fatigue. She’s also recovered from an abusive relationship, divorced, and in 2020, announced she was pregnant with her first child.
Christina’s journey is an inspiring example of resilience, and we wish her continued happiness.
