We met outside the movie theater at sunset and everything felt easy at first. He was charming, got tickets, and we split up to grab snacks.
At the concession stand, I was given popcorn instead of gummy bears. When I corrected it, the worker leaned in and quietly warned me: “Careful.”
Inside, he stayed charming, and I almost ignored it—until I found a hidden note in the popcorn: “If you’re here with him, come find me after. You deserve to know the truth.”
After the movie, the worker told me she had seen him do this before with different women—charming them, then disappearing and leaving them confused.
When I saw him waiting outside with the same smile, I didn’t confront him. I simply told him I’d get home on my own and walked away.
Later, I thanked her. Her warning helped me see clearly: I deserved better, and I left before it went further.
