A Maine father, Ryan Jennings, died while rescuing his two children from a rip current during a family trip to Juno Beach, Florida.
While swimming with his 12-year-old son and 9-year-old daughter, the family was pulled into dangerous water. His son made it back to shore and alerted his mother, who was on the beach with their youngest child.
Ryan pushed his son to safety and held his daughter above the water before he was overwhelmed. Lifeguards and first responders pulled all four swimmers from the ocean and performed CPR, but Ryan was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
Officials said the incident highlights the danger of rip currents and the importance of swimming at guarded beaches.
He is remembered as a devoted husband and father, with a fundraiser for his family raising over $200,000.
