A two-year-old boy from Georgia, Beckham Reed, is in critical condition after being stung more than 150 times by yellow jackets.
Beckham was riding an electric toy car when he accidentally disturbed a nest and was swarmed. He was first treated and sent home, but within 24 hours his condition worsened and he was rushed back to the hospital.
Doctors found he was suffering multi-organ failure affecting his kidney, liver, and heart due to venom toxicity. Beckham, who was born with only one functioning kidney, was moved to the ICU, placed on a ventilator, dialysis, and IV treatment.
His family says there is no antivenom for yellow jacket stings, so doctors can only support his body while it clears the toxins.
Despite the severity, there are hopeful signs, with his liver and kidney function reportedly starting to improve.
