Alex Ligertwood, longtime lead singer of Santana, has died in Los Angeles at age 79.
He fronted the band in several lineups from 1979 to 1994, becoming the voice behind hits like “Winning,” “Hold On,” and “All I Ever Wanted,” which helped shape Santana’s success during that era.
His wife, Shawn Brogan, said he died peacefully in his sleep after a final performance just two weeks earlier, noting he was deeply loved and dedicated his life to music.
Before Santana, Ligertwood also performed with artists like Jeff Beck and Brian Auger, building a strong career in rock and jazz.
