Nancy Guthrie, mother of Today host Savannah Guthrie, disappeared from her home near Tucson, Arizona, on February 1 and remains missing. The case has sparked a major investigation, with criticism aimed at Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos after FBI Director Kash Patel claimed the FBI was kept out of the investigation for four days. Nanos denied the accusation, saying the FBI was involved from the beginning.
Patel also criticized the handling of evidence, including blood found at Guthrie’s home, and said the FBI could have analyzed it faster. One major lead came from a doorbell camera that captured a masked man outside her home the morning she vanished.
Recently, bones were discovered less than five miles from Guthrie’s home, raising fears they were connected to the case. However, police later said the remains were likely more than 50 years old, possibly even prehistoric, and not part of a criminal investigation.
