Chloe arrives at her best friend Ava’s wedding with her fiancé of three years, expecting a joyful day after helping plan the entire event. She has supported Ava for months, even paying expenses and organizing major parts of the wedding.
But at the entrance, Ava’s cousin blocks her fiancé, saying only married couples are allowed. Despite being engaged and listed with a plus-one, Mark is refused entry. Feeling humiliated and unsupported, Chloe tries to contact Ava, but she ignores her.
Inside, Chloe discovers the rule applies to many guests, leaving half the seats empty and causing widespread frustration among couples who were separated. The ceremony and reception feel tense and incomplete.
Later, Chloe confronts Ava, who insists she wanted “only official married couples” to avoid complications in photos. Chloe calls her out for excluding long-term committed partners, especially after all her help.
Hurt and disappointed, Chloe ends the friendship and leaves with Mark. Months later, they have their own small wedding, choosing to include all guests’ partners regardless of marital status.
