Bobby Cox, the legendary former manager of the Atlanta Braves and Hall of Famer, has died at the age of 84. The team announced the news Saturday, noting that Cox had suffered a major stroke in 2019.
Cox was one of the most respected figures in baseball history, leading the Braves through one of the sport’s greatest eras. During his time as manager, Atlanta won 14 straight division titles, five National League pennants, and the 1995 World Series championship.
Known for his calm leadership and loyalty to players, Cox finished his career with more than 2,500 wins and was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2014.
The Braves honored him as a beloved leader whose passion for baseball was matched only by his love for his family.
