66-year-old mom criticized after giving birth to twin boys!

Posted on May 10, 2026 By admin

Becoming a mother is a life-changing experience that can come early, late, or after years of waiting. There is no “right” time—every child and every mother’s journey is unique and should be valued.

In 2006, Maria del Carmen Bousada from Spain became the world’s oldest mother when she gave birth to twin boys at 66 years old. She financed IVF treatment by selling her home and reportedly told doctors she was younger than she was, believing women should choose motherhood on their own terms.

Her decision was controversial and criticized by some of her family, who called it selfish. Maria, however, said she was fulfilling a lifelong dream.

She gave birth to healthy twins, Christian and Pau, but sadly was diagnosed with ovarian cancer just six months later. She passed away in 2009, leaving her family to raise the boys.

Despite the controversy, Maria remained firm in her belief that becoming a mother later in life was her right, and her children were loved and cared for after her passing.
