After 10 years in a tiny cage, bears take their first steps toward freedom

Bears are majestic creatures meant to roam the wild, not be confined to cages. Misha and Dasha, two brown bears, spent ten years in a cramped cage outside a restaurant in Armenia, serving as tourist attractions. With no space to roam, they spent their days pacing, climbing bars, and banging their heads in frustration.

Their cage was dangerously close to a riverbank, and during one flood, they nearly drowned. After years of effort, the International Animal Rescue (IAR) and the Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Assets (FPWC) finally secured their release.

Once freed, Misha and Dasha were transported to a sanctuary where they could roam freely. In a surprising turn, Dasha gave birth to two cubs after hibernating. This miraculous moment was a symbol of hope, as Dasha, once trapped in misery, was now a protective mother.

Their story highlights the cruelty of captivity and the power of animal rights groups. Misha and Dasha are now free, and their journey serves as a reminder that no animal should live in misery for human entertainment.
