Listening to Rick Springfield always makes me feel 20 years younger. His music and voice bring me joy, so I was saddened to learn about his recent health issues.
At 75, Springfield is an iconic musician and actor, known for hits like “Jessie’s Girl” and roles in General Hospital and The Goldbergs. Recently, he revealed that he suffered brain damage from a fall 25 years ago during a performance in Las Vegas. He had thought he only broke his wrist, but a recent MRI showed significant brain damage.
In 2001, during a show at the MGM Grand, he fell 20 feet while on a beam. He only discovered the extent of the injury after the MRI. Despite this, Springfield stays proactive about his health, even trying ketamine therapy for depression. He also credits reducing his alcohol intake as a major improvement.
Springfield’s commitment to health is deeply influenced by the loss of his father, who died from an untreated ulcer that could have been fixed. This tragedy taught Springfield the importance of addressing health issues head-on.
His resilience continues to inspire, showing that it’s never too late to confront the past and take control of your future.
