Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have focused on raising their children, Archie and Lilibet, since stepping down from royal duties. They welcomed Archie while still in the Royal Family and Lilibet over a year later, away from the Firm. The children are likely unaware of their parents’ royal rift, which may affect their future relationships with their royal cousins.
Harry and Meghan’s decision to leave the Royal Family was partly to give Archie and Lilibet a different life. They opted for a more private birth for Archie in 2019, avoiding the usual royal photo-op. Harry even took laughing gas during the labor, which he humorously recounted in his book Spare.
Lilibet’s birth in 2021 sparked controversy due to her name, which honored Queen Elizabeth’s childhood nickname. Prior to this, Meghan suffered a miscarriage, a loss that still impacts her today, particularly around its anniversary.
Meghan, while busy with work, cherishes time with her growing children and feels sadness as they age. Despite considering a third child, both Harry and Meghan have expressed they are content with two. In a 2019 interview, Harry indicated he believed in limiting family size for environmental reasons, and Meghan confirmed in 2021 that they are “done” with two children.
