Margaret thought she had dealt with the worst after confronting a spoiled student, but the next morning, a mysterious box on her doorstep changed everything. Inside, a forged letter threatened her students’ futures unless she resigned.
In Room 204, Margaret addressed her tenth graders, calmly urging them to give their best for the upcoming exam. When Connor, a smug student, disrespected her and the class, she dismissed him. Later, his wealthy father, Mr. Reynolds, demanded her firing, threatening to pull financial support. Despite his pressure, Principal Jean stood by Margaret, recognizing Connor’s poor behavior.
That evening, a brown box arrived at Margaret’s doorstep containing old student files and a fake letter stating that her class was ineligible for the state exam unless she resigned. Fearing for her students, she considered resigning to protect them.
The next morning, Margaret took her resignation letter to the principal’s office, but Jean urged her not to give in. Margaret felt she had no choice if her students’ future was at risk. She left the school without saying goodbye.
At home, Margaret was stunned when her students arrived with signs, a cake, and a petition to take the exam. They had uncovered the letter’s forgery, and one student even spoke with their lawyer parent to confirm it. They wanted Margaret back, and she realized she wasn’t alone.
Tears in her eyes, Margaret agreed to return, her faith restored in the students she had fought for.
