Veteran Hollywood actress Ann Robinson, best known for her role in the classic sci-fi film The War of the Worlds, has passed away at the age of 96, her family confirmed.
Robinson died on September 26, 2025, at her Los Angeles home, though the news was only made public recently. She rose to fame starring in the Oscar-winning 1953 adaptation of H.G. Wells’ novel, where her character Sylvia fought alongside scientist Clayton Forrester against invading Martians.
The film later became a sci-fi classic and was added to the National Film Registry in 2011 for its cultural importance. Robinson also made a cameo in Steven Spielberg’s 2005 remake starring Tom Cruise.
Throughout her career, she appeared in popular TV shows including Perry Mason, Alfred Hitchcock Presents, and Gilligan’s Island. She is survived by her son and two grandchildren.
