Meghan Markle has made it clear she prefers to be called Meghan Sussex instead of Meghan Markle. During her Netflix show With Love, Meghan, actress Mindy Kaling referred to her as “Meghan Markle,” prompting Meghan to correct her by saying, “I’m Sussex now.”
Meghan explained that sharing the Sussex name with her children, Archie and Lilibet, feels deeply meaningful to her as a family name. The title was given to her and Prince Harry by Queen Elizabeth II after their 2018 wedding.
Her decision has sparked comparisons to Catherine, Princess of Wales, who has also encouraged people to use her formal name, Catherine, instead of Kate.
