We all imagine what our babies will look like, whether boy or girl, with blonde or brunette hair, and so on. It’s natural to wonder, but ultimately, all children are blessings and deserve equal love.
However, some parents experience a surprise like no other. Take Angela and Ben Ihegboro, a Nigerian couple living in London, who were stunned when their third child, Nmachi, was born with blonde hair and blue eyes, despite both parents having black skin and their two older children being similarly dark-skinned.
While the couple was initially shocked, Ben quickly dismissed any speculation about infidelity. “Of course she is mine,” he said. Angela described Nmachi as a “miracle baby.”
Genetic experts proposed a few theories: Nmachi could have a unique gene mutation, or Angela and Ben may carry dormant Caucasian genes passed down from ancestors. Another possibility was a mutated form of albinism, though Ben didn’t believe this theory.
Despite the mystery, the most important thing is that Nmachi was born into a loving family.
