Alzheimer’s patient recovers speech and memories in groundbreaking drug trial!

Posted on June 9, 2026 By admin

An 80-year-old woman with advanced Alzheimer’s surprised researchers after receiving an experimental dose of psilocybin, the psychedelic compound found in magic mushrooms. Following the treatment, she briefly regained memories, became more communicative, showed improved mobility, emotional responsiveness, and even regained bladder control.

Some of these improvements lasted for weeks, leading researchers to explore whether certain abilities lost to Alzheimer’s may remain hidden rather than permanently erased. However, the study involved only one patient, and the effects faded over time, meaning the treatment is not a cure.

Scientists say the case is promising but more research is needed to understand whether psilocybin could help other people with Alzheimer’s.
