Nearly six months after his parents were found dead, Nick Reiner is requesting access to a trust fund they set up for him. Reiner, who has pleaded not guilty to charges of killing them, says he is legally entitled to the money.
Court documents from June 8 show the 32-year-old is asking for early distribution, arguing the trust states he could receive part of it at age 30 and the rest at 35. He is currently in custody awaiting trial and says he needs the funds for legal defense and jail expenses.
The trust reportedly contains over $1.5 million. Reiner’s petition claims the trustee has repeatedly refused to release money, giving inconsistent reasons, and asks the court to grant full access.
His filing also notes his former attorney withdrew after the trust funds were unavailable to pay for his defense, and that another firm says it would return if payment is restored. His family has declined further comment.
The request is still pending as the criminal case continues.
