Posted on June 10, 2026 By admin

Search ends tragically for missing US student James “Weston” Higginbotham, 20, who went missing on May 29 while traveling in Kyoto, Japan.

He was last seen at Kyoto Station around 6 p.m. before extensive search efforts, including the FBI, were launched.

On June 6, his mother confirmed he was found dead in a mountainous area outside Kyoto by a volunteer search-and-rescue team. Police said no foul play is suspected, though the cause of death has not been released.

His family shared their heartbreak and thanked everyone who supported the search, asking for privacy as they grieve.
