Veteran actor Anthony Guidera, known for his roles in several popular Hollywood films of the 1990s and early 2000s, has died at the age of 65 after suffering a medical emergency.
According to reports, Guidera collapsed at his Southern California home on May 11 after experiencing cardiac arrest. His wife, Valarie, said he was hospitalized and placed on life support for nearly three weeks. In accordance with his wishes, life support was later withdrawn, and he passed away on June 6. Doctors were reportedly unable to determine the exact cause of the cardiac arrest.
Guidera began his acting career in 1990 with a small role as a bodyguard in The Godfather Part III, the final chapter of Francis Ford Coppola’s legendary crime trilogy starring Al Pacino. Though brief, the appearance launched a career that included several memorable Hollywood projects.
One of his best-known roles came in the 1995 sci-fi thriller Species, where he played Robbie. The film became a major success, and Guidera’s on-screen chemistry with co-star Natasha Henstridge earned them an MTV Movie Award for Best Kiss, marking one of the most notable moments of his career.
Over the years, Guidera built a reputation as a dependable character actor, appearing in films such as The Rock and Armageddon, while also taking on various television roles. His final screen credit came in the 2005 film L.A. Dicks.
Away from Hollywood, Guidera dedicated much of his time to the California-based spiritual organization Astara. Alongside his wife, he volunteered within the community and was affectionately known as “Reverend Anthony.” Friends and family remembered him as a devoted husband, father, mentor, and spiritual guide whose influence reached far beyond the entertainment industry.
Following news of his passing, tributes poured in from loved ones and colleagues who shared memories and condolences. In a statement, Guidera’s family described him as a deeply loved man whose sudden loss has left those closest to him heartbroken.
Anthony Guidera is survived by his wife, Valarie, and their son, Nick.
Although he never became one of Hollywood’s biggest stars, Guidera’s performances in films such as The Godfather Part III, Species, The Rock, and Armageddon ensured he remained a familiar face to movie audiences. His work continues to be part of a lasting cinematic legacy.
